Our Work

DUC’s National Boreal Program

DUC’s National Boreal Program delivers wetland and waterfowl conservation in Canada’s boreal forest—one of the most important ecosystems in the world.

We have more than 20 years of experience working with governments, Indigenous Peoples and industry to develop comprehensive, science-based solutions to conservation challenges relating to boreal wetlands. We support protected areas, sustainable land use and wetland policy.

A sustainable approach

Canada’s boreal region is environmentally rich. It’s also changing.

We support conservation efforts that address the growing impacts of climate change and development. Our three-pronged approach recognizes the need to manage natural resources to achieve long-term environmental, social and economic goals for all who live and work in the boreal.
