Become a major donor
You are a visionary and a leader. You understand how crucial our work is to the health of our water, wildlife and environment. As a DUC major donor, you have the opportunity to salvage the natural world you love. Your positive impact will be appreciated for generations to come.
Our conservation work benefits people from all walks of life.That’s why we partner with individuals, communities, government and industry to have our message heard and to get our work done. We use funds provided by our major gift donors as effectively as possible to meet our mission. In our 2015 fiscal year, we invested 92 per cent of available dollars in habitat conservation, research, public policy and education. Our efforts wouldn’t be possible without the generous support from our Major Donors. As a Major Donor, you become an active participant in some of North America’s most important conservation work.
Your gift, your way
Your donation may be pledged over a period of years or given immediately. Many donors fulfill their pledge with a monthly gift of cash. Stock, real estate or other assets also provide a tax-efficient way to make a meaningful gift. As a registered Canadian charitable organization, DUC is able to issue a tax receipt for your gift. Our major donors have the option to receive recognition in our annual report and are eligible for DUC’s major gift awards.

Major Donor Spotlight
Some of our major donors and their stories.
Alberta
David is an avid outdoorsman, conservationist and philanthropist. He is a founding member of the prestigious Calgary Dinner Committee, which has raised millions of dollars for wetland conservation in Alberta. Mr. Bissett also became the first individual to reach Wetland Champion status after making an incredible $2‐million donation to DUC in 2011. His contributions launched the David Bissett Sportsmen’s Legacy Fund to ensure prime game bird and waterfowl habitat in southern Alberta is maintained and managed. David is an honorary Rescue Our Wetlands campaign member.
Ontario
Brian is a passionate supporter and ambassador. He hosts many of our events and is honorary chair of both the Calgary and Toronto DUC dinners. Brian is also an honorary Rescue Our Wetlands campaign member. Mr. Burke is currently the president of hockey operations for the Calgary Flames, and is a member of Rugby Canada’s board of directors. He is a past president and general manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs as well as a past general manager of the Vancouver Canucks and the Anaheim Ducks.
Quebec
Audrey and Tim’s contributions support the Wetlands Mapping Program and the restoration of Ruisseau de Feu’s Marsh near Montreal.
Manitoba
Jim is a member of our board and the Manitoba senior director. Jim’s grandfather was a founding member of the our board and hunter in the Delta. Jim has recently become the leader of the Delta Marsh Restoring the Tradition undertaking, a multiyear, multimillion dollar project to restore this once world famous marsh to its former health and reputation as one of North America’s foremost staging marshes. Jim has made a leadership donation in support of the project funding requirement.
